Bukit Batok EC Location at Heart of Bukit Batok Town

In the heart of Bukit Batok, the 35-hectare Bukit Batok Nature Park offers a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape. It’s located near Bukit Batok East Avenues 2 and 6, and Lorong Sesuai. There are many interesting things to do in Bukit Batok Town, including the nature park itself, which is home to a wide variety of birds and butterflies. There’s also a playground for children, and many restaurants and retail outlets in the town.

Bukit Batok Town has a name that sounds like “coughing hill”. In Malay, “batok” means “hill” and “batok” means “cough.” The name was chosen to reflect the hilly terrain, and also a popular park for joggers, dog walkers, and Instagrammers. The park is just a short walk from the Bukit Gombak MRT station and is home to an otherworldly rock formation across the lake.

The town was once the heart of Singapore’s quarrying industry, but today, its surroundings are a peaceful residential area. The area includes a number of parks, including Bukit Batok Town Park (which is considered part of Bukit Gombak), and several nature reserves. The Bukit Batok Nature Park was built on an abandoned quarry in 1988 and has many beautiful footpaths. It also contains a WWII memorial, which commemorates the battleground that raged in this part of Singapore.

Little Guilin, which was once a granite quarry, is now a popular town park. This former granite quarry is the oldest rock formation in Singapore, dating back 250 to 500 million years. Originally, the quarry was to be a road, but the land was reclaimed and converted into a town park. Located in Bukit Batok Town, the park is also a popular spot for weddings and nature lovers.

The hillside nature park is an oasis of peace for Bukit Batok residents. Its regenerating forest was once a farm, but has been preserved thanks to a petition signed by nearby residents. If you’re planning to visit this park, make sure to bring mozzie spray and good hiking shoes to avoid being bitten by the thorny vines. When visiting the Bukit Batok Hillside Nature Park, take care to wear appropriate attire: good hiking shoes and a long sleeve shirt or pants.

Besides the park, a 12-metre-high Japanese war memorial is also located in Bukit Batok. A memorial to the fallen soldiers of World War II is also located at the entrance of the park. The shrine, which is dedicated to Emperor Akihito, was destroyed by the Japanese after the war, and footage of the ceremonies were broadcast to encourage Japanese support for the war. Because the Japanese were afraid of the British troops’ presence, they destroyed the shrine.
