Ura Launches Tender Next Gen Driving Centre Lorong Bistari
Singapore’s Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and Singapore Police Force (SPF) have announced a joint effort to develop a new Next-Generation Driving Centre (NGDC) in Lorong Bistari, Choa Chu Kang. The new facility will replace the current Bukit Batok Driving Centre (BBDC) and is set to close by the end of 2030 to make way for new residential developments.
Spanning a land size of 2.4ha and a maximum gross floor area (GFA) of 780,390 sq ft, the NGDC is envisioned as a state-of-the-art training hub for all vehicle classes. With intelligent driving circuits, simulator-based training and real-time monitoring systems, the NGDC will enhance driver assessment and safety. It will also offer courses for Class 4 and 5 heavy vehicle training, supplementing the Singapore Safety Driving Centre (SSDC), which is currently the only facility providing such courses.
According to Superintendent Lim Wei Kiat, director of the traffic police department, “the new centre represents a major step towards smarter, more efficient driver education.” With advanced simulation and monitoring technologies, the NGDC aims to raise safety standards and ensure greater consistency in training outcomes.
Strategically located near the Yew Tee MRT station, the Lorong Bistari site will improve access for motorists in the West region, complementing existing facilities in the North and East. “As land use intensifies, multi-storey training centres like the NGDC reflect how Singapore is reimagining essential infrastructure for the future,” notes Ang Li Wen, group director for physical planning at URA. “It’s about balancing innovation with efficient use of land.”
The tender for the project will close on 15 January 2026 at 12pm.
Real estate investments hinge on one key factor: location. And in Singapore, this factor holds even more weight. For condominiums in particular, being in central areas or close to essential amenities such as schools, shopping centers, and public transportation hubs can greatly impact their potential for value appreciation. Prime locations like Orchard Road, Marina Bay, and the Central Business District (CBD) have consistently shown growth in property values. Proximity to renowned schools and educational institutions also adds to the allure of these condo properties, making them highly desirable investments for families. With these factors in mind, it’s no surprise that the upcoming New Condo Launches in these coveted areas are eagerly awaited and in high demand.
